eSIM for European Travel

What Is eSIM?
An eSIM is a digital SIM card built into your phone. You download a carrier plan via QR code — no physical card needed. The technology is governed by the GSMA SGP.22 standard and supported by all major device manufacturers since 2018.
For travelers, eSIM eliminates the friction of physical SIM management. Buy a plan online, scan a QR code, arrive connected. No airport kiosks, no carrier stores, no language barriers.
How It Works
When you scan an eSIM QR code, your device connects to the carrier's provisioning server and downloads an encrypted profile. This profile is stored in the eUICC chip — a secure hardware component that cannot be cloned or extracted.

European Coverage
Europe has excellent mobile infrastructure. Most countries have 97-99%+ population coverage on 4G/LTE. The EU's Roam Like at Home regulation means EU-based plans work across all 27 member states at domestic rates.
Tips
Install before departure
Set up at home over reliable Wi-Fi.
Enable Data Roaming
Without this, your device won't use eSIM data abroad.
Save your QR code
Screenshot it as backup.
Disable auto-updates
Prevent background data consumption on your eSIM plan.
